Why HeartSpace?

To be human is to experience loss.

To experience loss is to know grief.

Throughout our lives, loss can show up in many forms: the loss of a job, the loss of a relationship, the loss of health and vitality, the loss of fertility and youth, and of course the loss of life. All of these experiences can have the same intense effects as the death of a loved one. They can leave us feeling shattered, lost, and alone. And unfortunately, our modern-day way of life does not provide us with the rituals or guides we need to properly care for ourselves, find relief and support, and effectively grieve these losses when they occur.

That’s where HeartSpace Wellness Studio can help. The practices of art therapy, mindfulness, and yoga can create a safe and supportive space to express, process, and understand the sometimes seemingly insurmountable effects of grief. They can provide a much needed guide to caring for ourselves, reconnecting with others, and ultimately moving through these unimaginable moments in time.

Hi, I'm Catherine, and I'm an Art Therapist. Since 2007, I have been helping clients engage in their own art making, creativity, and self-inquiry as a way to find ease among life’s many challenges. As a Board Certified Art Therapist and a Registered Yoga Teacher, I can guide you in the practices of art therapy, mindfulness, and yoga to help you relieve stress, release and understand difficult emotions, restore your energy, and discover new ways to leave you feeling more like your true self.

I understand the healing powers of creativity, mindfulness, and yoga not only from my work as an Art Therapist but because I have experienced the profound benefits myself for chronic pain, difficult life transitions, grief and loss, and compassion fatigue. Because of this experience, it is my mission to help you navigate this stressful time in your life and find the tools from within to leave you feeling calm, capable, and confident in whatever situation you may be facing.
